EMBODYING ART
Man is supposed to live a certain way. Beauty, Aesthetics and an artful life is what God intended for us.
In this day and age, there is so much spiritual decay, so much complacency, so much fitting in and when you take a moment to recallibrate then you quicky realise how much you are deep in the matrix. People are desperate for quick fixes: get rich quick schemes, quick relationships, lose weight fast etc. No one has the patience anymore. All good things come to those who wait but we are a want it right now and get it right now type generation.
The most important resource we have is time. The 8th wonder of the world according to Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger is compounding. Imagine assembling these two forces together, what would happen? It'd be glorious and the beauty is that it can be applied in all faucets of our lives: Relationships, money, fitness- any conceivable goal can be applied with this beautiful partnership.
Imagine how great if feels to start a new business venture, a new blog post, a new relationship. It's a whole world of possibilities, the future is all bright but a caveat is that we have attachments to what we want to happen. Case in point: I should have 6 figs by end of year 2 in my business; at the third date I'll make a move for our fist kiss etc. Most times, scenarios don't play out exactly as we wanted in our head and we suffer then. A quote from Buddha would perfectly encapsulate this situation; "The root of all suffering is attachment."
My question for you is why would we continue to wallow in suffering when we have an awesome alternative; one that would not only alleviate our suffering but in the process also enlighten us and lead to enjoyment of the process. This alternative involves time and compounding.
The best things that have ever happened to me have been through compounded time. My physique was built by showing up everyday and on a random day I looked at the mirror and loved what I saw. My best relationships grew through the initial awkward phase, and with time getting to being silly and goofy 24/7. Even with writing, I'm refining my style and getting better every single day. So why would we still get want quick fixes and not go through the process? I for one am not a saint, I've believed in quick fixes but they all lead to the path of destruction. How counterintuitive, wanting to build something so hastily yet you lose it twice as fast. An example might be lottery winners, it's a matter of time before they lose it all. So I no longer hope for quick fixes because time is my friend and if I compound everything right then how could I not make it in whatever I set my mind to?
Back to spiritual decay and by spiritual decay, I don't say it in a condescending hypocritical tone. I'm talking about our souls, the very essence of our being. I believe that we are aesthetic beings so art is important to our overall well being. Great architecture, great physiques, great food, great books, great music. We need to embody art in every way and sadly we've been robbed of this in modern society. It's no wonder we are so confused and depressed. How did we get here? I believe it was time. Time compounded against us. Every bad decision we made. More fast food than whole foods. More hate, less love. Mayhem over peace. The result is spiritual decay and a generation that is lost and confused. The beauty is that we have a choice to embody art. It'll take patience and right choices. Patience is therefore an art.
To embody art in this day and age is rebellion. It's a matter of choice. I've been on both sides and an aesthetic life is the best life you can live. Pristine nutrition, great physiques, meaningful friendships and relationships, thought provoking literature and an overall beautiful life. This is the way my friends. Make a choice to embody art, beauty, aesthetics and to take in all that is good for you.
Love,
Hum.
